Daija Hinojosa is quickly becoming what many are referring to as the “future Commissioner of the People'' with her passion for citizen engagement, her encouraging nature and servanthood leadership, she has inspired many to get involved in public service.

Daija had never considered running for elected office until May of 2020 when the local governing body decided to close public access to beaches. When a mask order was passed (after having been rejected multiple times) she put together a plan to challenge the current district commissioner run for County Commission. She began attending Board of County Commission meetings and found herself inspiring the largest local freedom movement in Collier County.

The movement ignited a broad interest among citizens to get involved in local government affairs. She helped organize meetings, rallies, freedom events and community gatherings that inspired tremendous citizen engagement.

Since the movement of 2020, numerous citizens have made the sacrifice to run for elected office on the county commission and the Collier County School board. When people were filled with anxiety and fear, Daija was there to encourage, educate and empower! Her message of working together to build strong communities continues to be the driving force in her life.

WHY IS DAIJA HINOJOSA RUNNING?

I’m running to bring authentic, conservative leadership to the Collier County Commission and to make local government work for our community.

Community engagement

Daija is passionate about bringing people together and inspiring them to lead up in times of crisis. As an intentional leadership trainer, Daija understands a key principle. When the blind lead the blind, they both fall into the ditch. Whether in business or government, authentic leadership is desperately needed. There is no lack of people in positions of leadership but there is a lack of leadership within people. When there is a void of authentic leadership in people who are in positions of leadership, our communities and nations suffer as a result.

Bold. Fearless. Leader.

Daija Hinojosa and her husband moved to Naples in 2012. A dream came true that happened by chance, the two were captivated by the pristine beaches, the quaint and charming feel and the quality of life that Naples has to offer. A move across the country that happened by chance turned into Daija and her husband falling in love with Collier County and making it their permanent home.
